Worth Sharing!
Okay, Sandi Henderson (fabric designer diva) posted this on her blog and I HAD to share it. It's a long one, but worth every minute. Save it for when you have a spare 15 minutes and enjoy!

Family Organization - part 1
Just a quick post to show what I'm working on...
(click on it to enlarge)
Well, I geeked this out because I am not a fan of domesticity in general, but it needs to be done. I need a schedule in order to keep myself on track and if I can make it pretty in the meantime, then I've thrown in some creative time! I've learned from the past that a meal schedule helps me a lot and so this is included. I also throw in monthly tasks based on this schedule:
Week one: freaky floors (behind furniture)
Week two: clean out fridge
Week three: sort/pack baby clothes (at least until she stops growing so much)
Week four: email calendar (for housegroup)
Week five: clean/swap toys (I give Abigail half of her toys and then swap them out)
1st & 3rd Wednesday: strip & wash bedding/couch cover
2nd & 4th Friday: meal plan/water tree
Today is technically the first day on this schedule, so we'll see what needs tweaking. When I put the whole binder/organizer together I'll take pictures to show you. In the meantime, I have dinner to plan and my bedroom to tidy in order to be on task for today.

For you, Jenni!
Jenni, here's a sneak peak for you. I hope you don't mind that I'm blogging it before you've even received it, but I figured since it wasn't a secret you might not mind.
I've finally finished this little beauty for my friend, Jenni. I promised it when she saw my bag and I've had the fabric (which she picked out - and did a great job!) almost as long. It isn't that I haven't wanted to sew the bag, but do I need to remind anyone that I have a stack of diapers waiting for me? This pretty bag was a much needed and enjoyed diversion.
And because accessories are fun, I whipped up a (also promised a long time ago) coffee cozy and the little flower broach (tutorial here).

"mid September update" or "I don't know what to call this post"
A quick update, because I am trying to cut down my internet time and get to some serious sewing. Here's my latest lovely that I picked up from a garage sale for $75! My sewing machine I named after a lady in the bible who sewed clothes for people in need (Dorcus) and my serger needed a name. My mom sent me this scripture verse and suggested Sheba for a name. I like it. So, I'm happy to introduce you to Sheba!
I'd say that I got a great deal! In other news here's a picture of one of my kitchen chairs (we only have 2) that David recovered for me. I love them - I don't have before pictures because they were too embarrassing. He did a great job!
Sold with Sheba were these 2 feet and these bags of thread!

And finally, I got to go see this movie with my friend last night and it was so wonderful! I will definitely own this one and torture my husband for years with it! It was such a cute and heartwarming chick flick that I definitely recommend it. Oh, and the soundtrack is divine... have to get it!
This movie almost makes me want to learn how to cook.... almost!

Fun with iron on transfers
Remember the Love Winnipeg t-shirt I made for Abigail? Well, I had so much fun with the iron on transfers, that I knew it wouldn't be long before I had to make more. The perfect project came to me yesterday. I wanted my David to know that we (Abby and I) are in his corner - we're his cheering section. I designed some fun shirts to show our support. I think they turned out pretty cute!
Abby's shirt I found in the boys department in Wal Mart (for some reason you can't find plain shirts in the girls department). To make the logo, I dragged a superman logo into my print program and placed lines overtop to get the right shape then deleted the logo. "D" for daddy, though it would work for David, too.
My shirt I also purchased at Wal Mart. I was going to put the picture on the chest of the shirt, but then I realized that it would land right where I don't want people staring, so I thought of other places to put it. It seems like there are a lot of shirts with the print on the side and thought I'd give it a try. I actually think it works great with the way the face is cut off, it looks like she's peeking over my shirt edge. Can you see David's face in the thought bubble? He really is my superhero, here on earth anyway!

A Nice Summer Day
David has been wanting to go to the driving range for quite some time and we finally did it. Surprisingly I enjoyed myself! I wore a skirt so that no one would take me seriously enough to watch. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! Seriously though, I wouldn't have even tried this a few years ago because I have a fear of being humiliated. I stand on the scripture that says:
We didn't have a sitter lined up, so we took Abigail and she even got to try a couple of hits with Mama and Papa.
After our small bucket of balls was emptied we took Abigail to the playground for a little while. She loves swings!
We also put her on the slide (with Papa) and a couple of other playground equipment pieces, but the swings are definitely her favourite!
All in all it was a nice summer day! (More picture here.)
"For God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."So I went, I tried, I ignored everyone else around me and I enjoyed myself. I even managed to get a couple of straight drives in. We are going to go again, now that I've had a taste of it. We even talked about taking some lessons next summer.
