A Quick Crafty Check-in

I whipped up another dolly this week for a new baby girl. Just like the last one, this one is printed at 175% and a bit smaller that Abby's dolly. Abby insisted that I take a picture of both dollies together, too. Pattern/Tutorial courtesy of the Black Apple.

A Little Super Hero Action

Saw this idea on Pinterest just in time for a little birthday boy. Abby was happy to model it for me. I need to make some for my littles now, as Malachi was devastated when I put it away (in fact, he can't even handle looking at these pictures without getting upset and crying for the mask). Cape tutorial here and mask tutorial/pattern here. Hope the birthday boy enjoys it as much as my littles do!

Summer List Check-In #2

  •  Explore Assiniboine Park (we've done a large portion of this and will be doing a Winnipeg review on our experience)

(in the English Garden)

(Inside the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden-funny, we didn't get a picture with a sculpture)

  • Play dough sculpting (I also made my own using this recipe, though I may try a different one next time as I found it grainy and only lasted one sitting before it started falling apart)

Abby and I also pulled out a miniature tea set that Grandma Ang sent her ages ago. They're ceramic and special and are only for her (she doesn't have to share them with Malachi, which is a huge thing right now).

Birthday Sewing

I've finished Abby's birthday sewing for this year. First up is her t-shirt skirt. I used this tutorial and it turned out really cute. She really likes it, too. I hope I can keep sewing things for her that she likes. I really like how it looks with her baby leg warmers.

Next up is a stuffed butterfly. Her birthday party theme is butterflies this year (I will post all about the decorations etc after her party). I decided to whip up this little stuffy for her, though she certainly doesn't need any more stuffies! The pattern is from Amy Butler's Little Stitches book. This is an example of what happens when I sew while tired. There are several little mistakes (I won't point them out - I'm trying not to pick apart everything I do) Abby doesn't care anyway.

New Baby Gifts

Our house group has grown by one since 2 days ago. Friends of ours welcomed their first baby to their family, a baby boy! Daddy is a pilot, so I thought that this little toy would be an appropriate gift. I also whipped up a couple different sized hats for him. Love these... will need to make more!

A Gathered Clutch for Me!

I'm off to ladies retreat this weekend. It has become an unofficial tradition to make myself a new accessory when I go on a trip. So, without further ado: My Gathered Clutch! Tutorial here.

And Another Project!

I know, I know! I can hardly believe it myself, but I have another project to show you. It's been a great couple of creative days! This little lovely clutch is made using this tutorial... and I LOVE it!

It's kinda hard to see, but the inside has a card slot and a pocket divider... cute and functional!

A First Birthday Present for a Boy

A friend's son is turning one and I needed a little something to give to him. I found this great tutorial, but it is actually designed for 2T/3T size and I thought that would be too big. I scaled down the pattern to 90% and I hope it fits! I also made a little fabric beach ball from this tutorial. These are so cute and a great softie for littles. I borrowed one of Abigail's teddy bears to model them for me.

Angry Turtleneck Re-con

Here's a great project. Minimum input - maximum results. I didn't take a before picture as I'm not all that confident with clothing projects and don't often expect them to turn out. This top used to be a tired turtleneck. We could call it an angry turtleneck and now it's a happy shrug. (My dad calls these tops shrunks - because they look like they've shrunk in the wash). I used this t-shirt re-con tutorial with 2 minor adjustments. I cropped my long sleeves to 3/4 length and I put some zig zag stitching through the ends where the ribbon comes out of the casing (once i determined how gathered I wanted it). The tutorial suggests pinning the ribbon and the stitches keep it snug without needing pins. I will definitely be trying this again.

Excuse the poor self portraits. I'm sure you get the idea.
